Snow Feet

Winter has finally arrived in Regina! We at the Victoria Veterinary Clinic want to remind you to keep your pets safe and warm throughout the cold and snowy months.

Dexter loves being outside but because of his long fur he develops a buildup of snow and ice in between his toes and on his legs.

Snow boots can help protect your dog’s feet from the cold, ice and products like ice melt that can cause irritation to the feet. Dexter is not a big fan of his snow boots but they allow him to go for longer walks without having to stop to chew the ice from his feet every few minutes.

If your dog refuses to wear boots, then another option is to keep the fur in between their toes trimmed short.

Walks and time outside may need to be shortened in the colder temperatures. Check your dog’s feet regularly for injury or damage that may occur when exposed to ice and cold.
